Programs

Rainbow Family Support and Advocacy-Africa (RaFaSA) is committed to providing a diverse range of programs tailored to the unique needs of LBTQIA refugee families. Our initiatives aim to empower, support, and uplift our community.

Education Program

Our Education Program supports seven children of LGBT refugee and asylum seeker single parents. Thanks to friends, well-wishers, and partners, we’re creating a community that values education and growth, fostering an environment where every child can thrive.

Emergency Relief Program

In times of crisis, our Emergency Relief Program is a lifeline providing emergency rent, food, and medical assistance to the most vulnerable of our focus population. With support from partners and donors, we’ve impacted 200+ queer refugees in Nairobi, addressing urgent needs.

Medical Program

Our Medical Program provides ongoing support to our community members facing specific medical challenges, ensuring their well-being.

On top of paying for their drugs, we pay for their bills as well as transport to their doctors’ appointments.

Emergency Safe Housing

Our communal shelter/safe house offers refuge to the most vulnerable members of our community facing housing challenges, providing three meals daily and serving as our office space.

“Our Goal Stands As A Beacon Of Hope, Dedicated To Nurturing Their Dreams And Ensuring That Every Child’s Rights Are Cherished And Upheld”

Livelihood Program

Through our Livelihood Program, we empower beneficiaries with skills training and start-up packages, supporting financial independence as they await resettlement.

Capacity Development

RaFaSA facilitates capacity development through various training programs, investing in the skills and knowledge of our community members for personal and collective growth.

Advocacy

RaFaSA passionately advocates for equal treatment, equality, and equity within the LGBTQIA refugee community. Our focus on inclusion, empowerment, representation, and equality extends to campaigns, community mobilizing, and networking.

Interpretation and Translation Services

We offer interpretation and translation services, ensuring everyone, especially those communicating in indigenous languages from Uganda, can access essential services. Join us in breaking down language barriers and fostering a community where everyone’s voice is heard.
